Today’s passage: Isaiah 61:1-4

Isaiah 60 promises a new day will dawn when the Savior comes, but how will it happen? What will this new day bring? 

This passage tells us it will come through the Spirit anointed ministry of the Word. 
Here we are given Jesus’ job description and we see a ministry of comfort, of transformation, and judgment. 

This new day will bring the Lord’s favor and the Lord’s vengeance.
This new day will bring the Lord’s healing and the Lord’s comfort. 

Today’s Prayer: 

O Lord our God, whose blessed Son gave his back to be whipped and did not hide his face from shame and spitting: Give us grace to accept joyfully the sufferings of the present time, confident of the glory that shall be revealed; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
