Sermon / Jesus as our friend, God as our father – Part 2 / Matt 11:25-28
Today we’ll continue to look at TWO key themes
we see in Matthew 11:
Previously, we discussed Jesus as our friend.
Today, we’ll examine Fatherhood with God as our father
Our key questions are:
A) How would your life be different if you knew
– God as YOUR father?
B) How would our world be different if we knew
– God as OUR father?
What if the great social issue of our day is NOT justice, or poverty, or equality but fatherlessness?
Some of us were blessed with wonderful fathers growing up, while others were abandoned and mistreated.
As we think about our fathers we see that whatever was good about them is a faint pointer toward the true goodness of our Heavenly Father.
And whatever was bad can serve as the photo-negative of who our Heavenly Father is.
A.W. Tozer once said:
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
When you think of God as Father, what comes to mind?
That just might be the most important thing about you.
