Today’s Song: Bless the Lord

Today’s Passage: Isaiah 60

How many times had Isaiah seen the sunrise over Jerusalem?  It is a sight you can still marvel at today.

In this chapter, however, that familiar scene, breathtaking in its own right, something we can see everyday…becomes an image of something so much greater. A new day’s dawn becomes a living metaphor for the great act of salvation that God is going to accomplish through his anointed one, the act of recreation that the servant of the Lord will bring.

Today’s Prayer:

Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
